Nanotechnology in improving the properties of bitumen
The use of nanoparticles to improve the functional properties of materials has grown so much today that the use of nanotechnology in the manufacture of materials is recognized as an economic tool in the field of competition. The role of the pavement layer, which is made of asphalt mixtures, is unavoidable in the performance of pavements. On the other hand, the characteristics and performance of asphalt mixtures used in road pavement construction are strongly dependent on the characteristics of the bitumen used in it. So far, a lot of research has been done to investigate the properties of modified bitumens, including polymer bitumens, rubber bitumens, etc.
Recently, the use of nanoparticles in changing the behavioral and chemical properties of bitumen has been considered by researchers, and researchers have conducted several experiments to study these properties to improve the properties of asphalt mixtures made with these bitumens modified with nanoparticles.
The research unit of Jay Oil Refinery utilizes technical knowledge, specialized manpower and advanced laboratory equipment in the following fields:
A- Carrying out research activities in order to increase the quality of bitumen products, improve bitumen application methods, formulate special bitumen products and make them, use natural (mineral) bitumens to produce valuable added products, research on tar bitumens and related products Bitumen modification with various additives such as polymers, meeting the needs of industries and replacing imported bitumen products with domestic products. Controlling various types of bitumen and bitumen products, imported and domestic, performing quality tests.
B- Performing general and specific scientific laboratory services related to various types of bitumens and various bitumen products such as pipe coatings, bitumen emulsions, roof insulation layers, sealants, mastics, primers, wagons for car and car bodies, and polymer and mulch bitumens.
